constant freezing

hi all
my computer keeps freezing. The hard drive led stays fully lit and the power light goes off but the fan still spins.
I have to hold the power button in to reboot.

I have had win 7 for a good 2/3 months and ive only noticed it the past week or 2.

it also freezes just before the login screen.

does this mean it's my pc not win 7 ?

please help

Hi and welcome

Can y ou type event viewer in search? go to the windows logs>applications tab. Look for errors (they have red in left column) that contain app hang, app crash, or anything relating to the problem. When you find them (there will be many) could you note the event ID and source codes and relay them to us.

these codes where in the custom views> administrative events section:

event ID 7000, 7009, 1101, 41, 6008, 315, 7031, 8194, 2004 and many many more!

there are about 2480 errors
