Hello,
I noticed about a month ago that my Hp windows 7 desktop pc kept trying to connect to the internet using explorer, I then scaned the pc using norton and foun noting so perfomed a system restore and the problem stopped. Now when using the computer it sometimes becomes very slow and the mouse lags and if I am playing music at the time, the sound becomes slow and badly distorted high screeching sounds. I have tried system restore, hardware diagnostics and factory reset but the problem is still there. This problem(s) don`t occur all the time, just when i think everything is ok it starts again. I need help please!!!!!!!!

When I read the title of your thread malware was the first thing I was thinking, and given what you describe here. I still think that's the case.

If you could install this and let it update.
Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a free download that removes viruses and malware from your computer

Then restart the computer in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/69585-safe-mode.html and allow it to do a full scan, I'm pretty sure it'll find something. You don't need to worry about conflicts. The free version of mbam is only on demand scanning. So it won't mess with your norton.

test results

@WHS, the results for the the Dpc latency test says "This machine should be able to handle real-time streaming of audio and/or video data without drop-outs". I will keep on trying to see if there will be any changes.
@Maguscreed. I ran malwarebytes in safe mode and found nothing.
I am using the machine to post this message and it has not shown any signs of the problem today. this i driving me nuts!

The DPCs look good. At least there is no problem on that side and with drivers. Back to the drawing board.
