Xtreme Systems Forums member PcCI2iminal scored one with overclocking a Core i7 975 XE D0 stepping chip part the 5 GHz mark, 5015 MHz to be precise using only air cooling for the processor, with an ambient temperature of 20 °C as claimed by the overclocker.

The Room Temp was 20 C. It doesn't mention the processor temp though.

Probably could have pushed the overclock higher if they disabled HT and all but 1 core; it would have ran a lot cooler!

Cores : 4
Threads : 4

Looks disabled to me...also that's not my way of overclocking, hyperthreading was created for a reason and I doubt that turning it off will give you an overall gain in performance.

Scratch that part about HT. Now I see, Core Temp reports each core is around 30 to 34 C.

I mean if the overclocker disabled all but 1 core, it probably would push the overclock higher because the processor as a whole would run faster; instead of 4 cores operating each at ~30 C, you only have 1 core.
