Correct Install ISO??

I recently had a BSOD- Unmountable boot volume.

Well I already bought a new Hard Drive, and now I want to install Win 7 Pro OS on it. However I am wondering if what I purchased is even the right thing anymore. I keep failing my install at 'expanding windows files' at 1%. I've tried a bunch of things to get the install working, now I am 2nd guessing the ISO I purchased.

First I guess I just need to know, is this even going to install windows? or is this JUST the sp1? the iso was 3.1 gigs. found here: Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit - Full Version OEM -Newegg.com

If this is the correct thing I need, then I guess i'm stuck at the install. If it isn't the correct thing I need, then i'm an idiot.

what did you have installed before, home/pro??
Changing to an SSD does NOT require you to purchase a new OS!!.

i had win 7 pro. but i no longer have the cd/key. so when my old harddrive failed, and i bought a new one, i figured i need to have an install disk. is that not true?

What you need to install win 7 is a key. The Win 7 iso you can download from MS for free.
You may be doing something wrong.
How big is the new disk?
Do you have a Legacy or UEFI BIOS?
Did you have Win 10 on the previous disk?

Please edit your profile with ALL hardware specs.

the key i got is from newegg and isnt reckognized by microsoft to download the iso.

i did not have win 10 on old disk. i have uefi bios. my hardware specs will have to be filled in later as im on the road atm. sorry.

- On BIOS, make sure Secure boot is disabled (may be OS=other or CSM = enabled). Also disable Fast boot.
- Set boot priority to the HDD. If you have any other HDD, disconnect them from the MoBo.
- Launch boot menu and boot from the Win 7 installation DVD as UEFI, not legacy.
- Go to install - Advanced - delete ALL partitions - Create new.
It will create 3 partitions
- UEFI - 100M - Fat32
- MS reserved - 120M - RAW
- Big NTFS
Install on the big NTFS.

did you remove that download link? it doesnt matter if my downloaded iso is valid. which was the first of my two issues.

how do i make the partitions fat32 or raw? my interface doesnt let me do that.

The download link was for Win 7 HP not Pro.
Did you boot the win 7 installation disk as UEFI?
You don't create a partition, the installation does.

You have a desktop!

if an OEM W7 pro version was installed when you purchased it there should be a COA sticker attached
(it will quote the OEM (Dell etc) and the version (home premium/Pro etc) and MORE importantly a back up key for back-up purposes.

As your saying its an EUFI bios im erring on the side that its NOT a W7 install, or you have changed its configuration at some stage.

In that case you must have purchased either
a System builder or Retail licence

Both of which would still be valid for an SSD change.
