I recently installed a new Corsair H50 closed water cooling system onto my AMD 965 back edition quad core processor on a ASUS M4A79T Deluxe MB. The number one reason for installation was the noise levels from the AMD OEM fan. The second reason was to OC the cores. Noise - problem solved, this thing is nearly silent.

I thought it a prudent move before overclocking the cores to take a temp reading so I downloaded CPUID hardware monitor. These are the temps I'm showing and they look really high. Can anyone verify this for me?

Cores #0 through #3

Basically idle - 91C
Minimum 90C
Maximum 94C

The drives are running near 32C, the GPU near 50C, TMPIn0 is 75C, TMPIn1 is 33C and TMPIn2 is at 128C.

The core temps just seem off the charts and one would think that maintaining these temps, assuming the HW monitor app is working properly, would fry the CPU in short order, but it sits powered up 16 hrs a day, every day, and has for a week or so.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Problem Solved - Make sure if you are install this cooler that you seat the pump over the CPU inside the mounting ring. It's a little kloogy and unclear in the instructions and even the OEM Youtube installation video doesn't spend much time on it. Back down to 34C on all Cores.

Good job. I have the same set up and I've found just fyi that two fans (good ones like noctura's) in a push pull configuration is working out really well. So well in fact that I've ignored the cool air in and I'm cooling with case air and exhausting which promotes much better flow out the top of my Thermaltake Element V case. Dual fans only require you source from your local hardware store 4 longer bolts which the dimensions are available on Corsair's site.

Thanks Linnemeyerhere - I was was wondering exactly that, the push pull configuration and it makes perfect sense that you would reverse airflow pulling from inside the box. In fact, I will appy that configration in the next few weeks as I am replacing my ASUS M4A79-T (w/Phenom II 965 BE) witha Asus Crosshair IV and AMD X6 1090T BE.

Solarstarshines - I am at 39C near idle now with AMD X4 965 OC'ed from 3.4 to 3.81, so even OC'ed, still high temp I think. I'm not real impressed with the H50 as I have a Cooler Master HAF (the biggest one) box which has great airflow, side, back, and top fans. Maybe with Linnemeyerhere's suggestion, I might be good to go.

Thanks for your comments

1strail,
The push pull will help for sure and if you want to keep costs down use one Noctura as the pusher fan and the stocker on the exhaust side. Good luck and let us know how this works for you.
Cheers, the Cheese
