Solved CPUID Hardware Monitor

I have CPUID Hardware Monitor installed and I like it. But, there seems to be a lot of information available that I do not use OR that is not being updated.

How can I determine which readings are "for real" and which are pseudo readings.

Example: I have six fan speed readings that never change. Three report 99% while three report 0%. I also have noticed that some temperature readings never change and report the same for value, min, max.

I installed CPUID back when I had CPU thermal problems and was advised to do so here on the forum. Doing so may have saved my CPU from thermal destruction. My CPUs now run in the mid 30° range.

If I have a tool that will do the same for the other readings, I want to know. It would be a shame to loose a HDD or GPU because I ignored or did not know how to read the warning data.

In my experience, most monitoring programs have at least some issues such as those you report---incorrect temperatures, obviously bogus fan readings, etc.

All I can suggest is to try to get the most recent version of the application or try another package.

I downloaded HWinfo32 as another point of reference and it seems to have the same issues. This makes me believe that I just don't know what to expect or how to use the data.

I probably should not refer to these as issues. I have no reason to believe that either HWinfo32 or CPUID Hardware Monitor is not working properly.

I need to figure out which monitor functions are available with my hardware.

I marked this as Solved even though I have not learned anything more about the thermal and fan speed monitor points. It does seem as though I should be able to determine which monitor points exist in the software by just reading the specs.

I plan to purchase a three wire fan to use as a test device. Objective: Plug fan into all unused "fan connectors" to see if RPM is reported.

There are fans on each of my GPUs but there is never a change in RPM or temperature reported.

Computer works great. Many I should just leave well enough alone. I have been told that here before.:sarc:

PS: I don't believe that I have improved the situation but I do now know that the sensors in question are all working.

I went into the BIOS and found two entries involving hardware monitoring. I changed those and immediately found temperatures rising. Two fans are set for 99%. Any changes in the BIOS change those to 0% and temperatures go out of control.

This is not optimal but at least the temperatures are reasonable.

i installed the CPUID in my laptop. My laptop is an i3 processor as seen in the bios and dxdiag. But when i open the CPUID, the cpuid showed an i5 processor. how come it displays an i5 processor wherein my laptop is only an i3 processor? is there something wrong with my laptop? need some help. thanks and good day.
