How to Add or Remove "Lock Computer" from the CTRL+ALT+DEL Screen
Information
This tutorial will show you how to add or remove the Lock this computer (Windows 7) or Lock (Windows 8) option from the CTRL+ALT+DELETE screen for all or specific users in Windows 7 and Windows 8.
EXAMPLE: CTRL+ALT+DEL screen
NOTE: This is when you press CTRL+ALT+DEL from within Windows.


OPTION ONE
Add or Remove "Lock Computer" from CTRL+ALT+DEL using a REG File
2. To Add "Lock this Computer" to CTRL+ALT+DEL Screen
NOTE: This is the default setting. A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below. Add_Lock_Computer_CTRL+ALT+DEL.reg

3. To Remove "Lock this Computer" from CTRL+ALT+DEL Screen A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below. Remove_Lock_Computer_CTRL+ALT+DEL.reg

4. Save the .reg file to your desktop.
5. Double click/tap on the downloaded .reg file to merge it.
6. Click/tap on Run, Yes (UAC), Yes, and OK when prompted.
7. Log off and log on, or restart the computer to fully apply.
8. When done, you can delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.
OPTION TWO
Add or Remove "Lock Computer" from CTRL+ALT+DEL in Group Policy
2. In the left pane, click/tap on to expand User Configuration, Administrative Templates, System, and Ctrl+Alt+Del Options. (See screenshot below)
3. In the right pane of Ctrl+Alt+Del Options, double click/tap on Remove Lock Computer to edit it. (See screenshot above)
4. To Add "Lock this Computer" to CTRL+ALT+DEL Screen A) Select (dot) either Not Configured or Disabled, and go to step 6 below. (See screenshot below step 6)
NOTE: Not Configured is the default setting.
5. To Remove "Lock this Computer" from CTRL+ALT+DEL Screen A) Select (dot) Enabled, and go to step 6 below. (See screenshot below step 6)
6. Click/tap on OK. (See screenshot below)

7. Close the Local Group Policy Editor window.
