I would look in to getting a cooling pad. There are many out there, here is a link to one

Sounds like you might need to give it a good cleaning. 55 is kind of high but not something that will ruin the cpu.

Thanks guys for the reply..
I know the problem, I am buying a new heatsink and fan, the temperature goes so high and reachers even 70C with little tasks, so no doubt the heatsink and fan should be changing, I've ordered new genuine dell part,
I have another question, do i need to reapply the thermal paste or the item has come already with thermal paste
with lots of thanks for being so helpful

Not sure why you should need to change out heatsink and fan. I would clean the lappy completely then test if still over heating then remove heatsink and clean both surfaces and reapply a quality thermal paste and re-seat heat sink. Absolutely zero need for new components unless they've failed and the heat sink just sit's there.

Mine gets hot when playing a simple card game. If I replace my HDD, which is going bad anyway, with a SSD, will that cool down the computer a lot or just a little? I already have a twin fan cooling pad, but it only makes a small difference. It runs at around 120 to 139f when playing a card game for a few hours. I had moving wallpaper, and that caused the temp to rise around 180f. You could almost roast marshmallows on it.

I have a quad core, i7 64 bit, Windows 7-1558 Studio. I'm hoping that the SSD will cool it down greatly.

Thanks for your time.

Simply clean it. Find a tutorial on how to remove your laptop piece by piece and make sure they're using same laptop are yours or you're bust.

Sorry but the ssd will only cool the lappy slightly. But the cooling, speed and extended battery life is worth it. Otherwise just keep the fan and guts clean from excessive dust.

Thanks Linnemeyerhere and Roastermen for your replies.

I will check out a video on cleaning the laptop. Maybe that's what it needs too. I normally run the big vac with brush on hose and clean everything on outside: keyboards and touch pad. I then hold suction hose for several minutes on all the vents and USB connections to pull as much as possible back out-I do this regularly. But maybe it needs to be taken apart?

Anyway, thanks for the reply and suggestions.

Use the vacuum on exhaust side and a can of compressed air on intake side, use short blast to break dust free and vacuum to pull out.....always with machine off !

Your lappy maybe when opened will expose more for even easier cleaning but that's rare.
