does ASUS P7P55D motherbored last Bios version (Version 2003) stable?

To ypdate the Intel chips driver you can use Intel's automatic driver update from their site. It is at the bottom left side "Automatically find drivers".

thx mach04

i installed the last version. however the intel log that in my pc (C:\Intel\Logs)

and other installations logs (of intel) still claiming that i got the old version.., also when i press "next" on the driver's installation it just jump to the "finish" page and said that the driver was installed successfully.. but no installation bar was seen at all..

but when i check it in this Intel's automatic driver update from their site it show me that i got the last version and that it valid. there is any place or progrem that i can check the driver's version with? other then intel site? xD btw till now i not encounter any problems.. yet

As I remember when I updated my drivers at Intels homepage, it didn't show any installation window, from that you can only update drivers related to Intel's products, even though it looks at you graphic and audio card. You need to go to the producers homepage and find the right driver for them.

I use a program System Information for Windows to get the version number of my hardwares, its free and you can download it here SIW | System Information for Windows by Gabriel Topala

On the left hand side you'll see a list of the hardwares, click on each one and see the version number of your pc's hardwares like graphic or audio card.

You can also see the BIOS version that is already in your pc. A very handy program to get information about your pc.

Your Intel drivers are well updated now.

It's probably a good thing that you are scared.

A BIOS generally should not be updated unless you are having issues and have a strong reason to believe that a BIOS update will resolve those issues.

Why do you want to update the BIOS?

I agree!

To verify whether the drivers version are updated according to Intel, it is also possible using a driver software that detects and install those you need to update. There are many of these kinds both paid and freeware types. You can choose one of them to search for the drivers you have on your pc which shows you the version number.

I would delete the old log files from Intel and run the update at Intel's homepage once again, hoping it will create a new log file.

The free one I know is this: Free Driver Update, Driver Download Software - Device Doctor

I add a couple of comments for others who may pick up on this thread.
I flashed my ASUS motherboard a few times recently. It's the first time I have flashed a motherboard and an expensive one at that!
The BIOS upgrades actually had what appears to be a serious bug related to temperature monitoring and fan control. I'm waiting for ASUS to respond.
So
1) I flashed with quite a bit of concern but it did seem to go ok.
2) I was also able to flash back to the earlier version.
3) I learned - a new BIOS version may introduce new problems! So I believe flash as a last resort.

as long as you can back up your old bios and you do well research before you flash (and ofc... if you know what you going to do) it should be fine as long as you don't get black out....

anyway in my case the last Bios version was out for allmost a year , and it seem that no one encounter any type of bug from the reasearch i done. so if someone have my Mobo version he don't need to fear from any bugs :D

However Do search people's commits in order to know if your Bios have some bugs before you run to flash, also if your bios is more then year out without any sign that it going to be replace by "fixed" version , it usually a safe bet, but the thing with bets that you must have a luck to win them =D

What I find annoying with bios's is how they dont keep the sata/raid roms up to date, funny they decided to update the marvell rom but not the intel RAID rom.

I think I managed to mod a bios to update the intel rom but dont dare use it as I probably messed it up.

To the original poster I agree with the comments amde about been risky in updating a bios, whilst I think now days the risk of bricking the system is low due to safety measure on bios updates it is still however entirely possible to get a stability/performance regression on an update and now days asus and the like make it hard to 'downgrade' the bios again to an older version.

On my old board the asus p5wdh deluxe, I remember updating it to a new bios and it completely trashed cpu power saving functions such as C1E and EIST for my cpu, it also removed some bios options (asus have a habit of doing that).

I have the asus p7p55d-E which is a different board to the p7p55d. What I found noticeable was the original reviews of the p7p55d on early bios versions had bios functions that are gone on my board, even on the bios it shipped with. I decided to not update my bios even tho I had some stability issues on my old ram, luckily this new ram so far 0 issues at all.

I have recently updated some laptop bios's tho which was required to install windows 7.

hi there

i not was in this post some time.

i gathered all of my unsolve questions here:

1. i still don't really got what is "qualiofied vendor" 0.0

is it just a list of documents?

2
Installing the intel matrix storage driver might improve your hard disk speeds

he meant to the intel driver that i post in the pic right? xD

3
And the jmicron driver is a driver for a STA controller on your board that's not part of the intel ones.. when you look in your motherboard manual there is a groudn plan of your board somewhere On that plan you will see one sata connector that's apart from the rest, at the bottom right I think, and that's the jmicron one So if you plan to use that one you can install the driver

i use the SATA cables for my HDDs ,Drives and etc *-* is this even count? O_o would this driver make my HDD and drive to work faster if i install it? xD lol

and also what is SATA controller ? (sorry about my "foolishness" btw xD)

4.
btw i don't really know what is that "jmicron" to begin with xD can someone plz explain it for me in a words that even noob will understand xD?

5. and last.

i still just want to know what video bios's update can do if it succeed .
it will give better performs and etc? for what it was needed actually to begin with? O_o

I have gathered some info for some of your questions. If you have no problem with your pc, so don't go any further with any updates.

1. Qualified vendor list is a list of pre-qualified vendors who have third-party products or services that a manufacturer has approved as suitable and compatible with their own products or services.

2. According to Intel yes it does help improve hard disk performance Intel® Matrix Storage Technology

3. jmicron is a card reader and xD is a card type, its quite old an old card and there are better type on the marked with higher capacity.

5. Video bios is aimed to solve an engineering problem and has nothing to do with performance, updating the video driver is enough.

(no one had gathered info for my questions before  lol)

1.
1. Qualified vendor list is a list of pre-qualified vendors who have third-party products or services that a manufacturer has approved as suitable and compatible with their own products or services.

thanks : P ... i have nothing to do with that list right? xD

2.
2. According to Intel yes it does help improve hard disk performance Intel® Matrix Storage Technology

umm what i meant is if that user was referred to the intel driver at all xD.
but anyway.. now that i allready installed the last processor (or CPU/Chip if you prefer) driver this Matrix technology is working right? =o

3.
3. jmicron is a card reader and xD is a card type, its quite old an old card and there are better type on the marked with higher capacity.

i see : P i never used that card and i don't think that in the meanwhile i going to xD

4.

Video bios is aimed to solve an engineering problem and has nothing to do with performance, updating the video driver is enough.

i see thanks : P though i have some black screens problems and crash here and there... that Bios update not going to fix it though right ? ; o

5. there is not such a thing as a SATA driver right? is that jmicron relate to it somehow? :\...

SATA refers to a hard drive disc (Serial ATA) its a common storage device in pc's and I don't think its needed to update its driver, and your card reader is not related to it.

If you are experiencing black screens its best to start a topic in Crashes and Debugging section, there are some people who have a wide knowledge of these kinds of problems and I am sure you get help to solve them.
I had previously some several BSODs with my new laptop and after several helps from people at this forum, I am experiencing a complete stable performance form my laptop with no problems at all, especially after updating all my hardware drivers, I haven't experienced a single problem. And unlike what I read from other users and friends I hear, I am very satisfied with Windows7 performance and stability.

thanks again mach04 =)

however you not answered to me on question 2. which really import for me atm : P

also about the black screens... i allready open thread about them in Nvidia wesite.. all the users who get them point their fingers on Nvidia's drivers that not love to get along with any card from specific version...

however there where cases there when it not was the driver fault.

in my cases it probably the driver , because i getting these black screens only on specific games (and not heavy ones.. i can play BFBC2 all day but get black screen on game like dead space 2 or even mincrasft lol) and compeletly randomly, it can take hours or seconds and my card not even overheated...

btw by black screen i meant that : the monitor suddenly turn off and claim it goes to power save mode (like when you turn the monitor off) and i keep hearing sounds (for example i still able to talk to mates in skype) but i can't do anything else... i can't see anything till i force restart my pc...

my PSU is fine too and all work fine and stable ( i allmost "never" had BSOD in my life on any pc i ever had, i know how to install stuff and make the system stable and etc)

btw i also satisfied with Windows7 performance and stability *-* most of the people who bought it probably was too, if not they probably just was rolling back to old good Xp long ago...

Have you downloaded the latest driver for the graphic card from Nvidia? Asus only update their own hardware drivers, you need to get the latest from Nvidia's homepage.
I have so far experienced one black screen but I believe it was caused by a new program I had installed so I removed it and didn't experienced any since that time.
I use a program Revo uninstaller to remove the programs I don't want, it also detects the registries that this program has added and removes them after the uninstallation.
Read my post 35, the link is giving the answer to your question 2.

What security systems are you using (antivirus, antispywares)?

1.
the last driver of nvidia cause troubles for me atm so i don't bothered to reinstalled it again,it right that usually the last driver is the best for your hardware...but Nvidia have their own rules at that matter these days.. and many users know that their last drivers usually far buggy for some of their cards so they stick with driver that works till people report that new driver is stable for them, in my case Nvidia last driver cases my whole system to freeze and force me to restart till i remove that curse thing, it also make my 295 GTX (which is dual card) to stop being detected as SLI card by the system (means that it only detect 1 card out of 2 and stop me from use SLI at all...) , many many users have the same problems, or more random problems that caused by nvidia last drivers.

anyway the conclusion i reached after i used Nvidia cards and drivers since 2003-2004 (if i don't mistake) was : to stay away from nvidia last drivers until you see alot of other people replys (and hope that they positive...).

2. i allready saw that link but couldn't find my answer there ... because i don't was able to understand some parts of it, that why i asked: if the Matrix technology is work when someone install intel's last processor (or CPU/Chip) driver? : o

3.i use Nod 32+ Spyware doctor+ windows defender +Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware for years xD i set their settings up so they won't collide/complicate with each other.

i also installed the last security updates form windows update and etc.
