Solved Does having a LOT of files on the desktop slow Windows?

I tend to dump internet saves onto the desktop for later sorting out. Sometimes "later" is very much so. Also, I use Fences, so I can put many more files than would actually fit on the screen because Fences allows it.
A tech who came to replace a part told me that having a very full desktop would slow things down. Is he correct?

It will not slow Windows to any measurable extend. The biggest problem with a busy desktop is confusion for the user.
