I'm running win 7 64 bit. I have a quest modem I'm promised 7 megs , but I'm getting barely 5 , is this normal, my modem says I'm connected at 7 ,is there anything i can do?

See what dslreports.com says about your connection speed. Not sure if you have to register or not, but it's free so I did. DOing so allows them to keep your info on hand to look at later to see if anything has changed.

Once you know what your actual speed is to various locations you can find out more about it.

The actual speed of various downloads is dependent on a lot of things, and not just on the specified maximum speed of your Modem/router.
