Hello,

I am hoping to install the same copy of windows 7 64 on 2 hard drives. I currently have one HD in my laptop with it installed already. I am about to install a second hard drive and want to install the same copy of win 7 and dual boot. The reason is that I don't plan on installing my wifi drivers, antivirus, or any other crap because I will be using it strictly for audio editing and performance.

All of the guides and how-tos that i could find only covered installing with XP or vista or linux etc.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks

The best way to configure a dual boot with separate HD's is to unplug the first HD and install to target HD. This way you boot via the BIOS, setting the preferred HD as first HD to boot in BIOS boot order, then using the key given on first bootup screen for Boot Menu to trigger the other HD instead.

This keeps the HD's independent so they can come and go as you please.

To create a Windows-managed Dual Boot, leave the first HD plugged in and install Win7 to the second from boot or from the desktop. This makes the HD's interdependent, however, and harder to extricate one.

cool thanks! I will give this a try as soon as I get a chance.
