Duel Boot Issue

Hi guys,

Okay, so I used to run Windows 7 off of an old 1TB hard drive that I bought the PC with. I then bought a 120GB SSD and installed Windows 7 on it from my original Windows installation. I decided I don't need anything on the old HDD anymore, so I want to format it and use it solely for storage.

BUT... every time I try and format it I get an error "Format is not allowed on current boot, system, pagefile, crashdump or hibernation volume."

Anyway I can force windows to stop booting on C: and then jumping to D: and just use D: without a Windows disk?

Post a screen capture image of your Disk Management screen:

It sounds like you did not disconnect the old HDD before installing to the new SSD, so your boot manager was written to the old HDD. The above image will confirm this, and we can then suggest a fix for you.

Did you install win7 on SSD from within win7??? So you didn't boot from DVD?
Now the drive letter of SSD is D after booting from SSD? Normally not a problem at all. But most tutorials use C as driver letter and many BAT or CMD files as well (they are written by unexperienced guys).
