Solved edited mp3's won't play on XP

hello there,

Is there anyone who can tell me why mp3 files I have changed a little with Audacity or Wavosaur will not play with Windows Media Player 11 on my old XP? I have the K-lite codec pack and all that.
They do play on my Windows 7. And I do know this is a 7 forum, sorry for asking.

As a guess, could it be the bitrate that the MP3 is being save as? or the MP3 encoder you are using?

edit: Fireberd makes a good point. Are you using libraries recommended by Audacity (Lame & FFmpeg)

There might be metadata issues.

Try stripping the tags out of one file that does not work on XP / WMP 11.
MP3tag is a really good tag editor.

As a simple test, try save the Audacity edit as a .wmp or .wav file - try playing that on XP / WMP11

I have the Audacity Lame already installed and I have been playing around with MP3tag but no results yet.

I've got it. I converted the audio mp3 file that would not play on my XP with Any Audio Converter (free) into a mp3 file (192kbps) and now it plays on my XP.
Why didn't I think of that sooner?
