Solved Eratic cursor/pointer has taken over laptop!

TWO DAYS AGO MY LAPTOP STARTED SCROLLING ON ITS OWN AND I WAS UNABLE TO TYPE ANYTHING BECAUSE CURSOR MOVED RANDOMLY. TRIED REBOOTING, RUNNING SCAN WITH NO VIRUS FOUND. LAST TIME i REBOOTED I WAS UNABLE TO SIGN BACK INTO MY COMPUTER BECAUSE THERE WAS NO BLINKING CURSOR SO i COULD TYPE IN PASSWORD. I AM CURRENTLY USING GUEST SIDE OF MY COMPUTER. tHIS SIDE WAS ALSO AFFECTED AT FIRST BUT I DID SOMETHING WITH POINTER AND NOW i AM ABLE TO AT LEAST USE IT.
I WANT TO DOWNLOAD NEW DRIVER FOR TOUCHPAD POINTER BUT CANNOT DO IT FROM THIS SIDE UNLESS I SIGN IN AS ADMINISTRATOR WICH I CAN'T DO BECAUSE OF PROBLEM, HELP PLEASE.

Hi Bigcaregiva and Welcome to W7F. Is the problem present in Safe Mode? If it isn't Go to the Command Prompt, right click it and Run As Admin. Type net user administrator /active:yes and hit enter. Close the command prompt. Reboot the computer and you will see the built-in Administrator account log on icon added on the boot Screen. Log into that account. Is the problem there? If everything is OK download the touchpad drivers and update the drivers. boot back to your account. Is the problem there? If it is still there boot back into the Admin account. From there create a new account with Admin right and boot to it. Is the problem there? If everything is OK move your data to that account. Once your satiffed you have everything delete your old account. Go back to the Command Prompt, Run as Admin, type net user Administrator /active:no to close the Admin account. Hope this helps you out.

unfortunately that did not totally work. my account is still affected. When I boot up an alarm goes off for sixty sec. right before windows opens up. cursor on admin. side still missing at sign in. this side I'm using now works well enuff for me to do basics

This looks like you have a problem with an over sensitive touchpad. Have you tried installing an external mouse & then disable the touchpad.

Did it just stop? Please give details that may help other with this issue. That is what this site is all about.

ooops!!!! It appears that I spoke too soon, the cursor on the admin. side/account has dissapeared again and I cannot sign back into my computer.

Try Ranger4 suggestion in post #4 If it is a touchpad issue this will narrow it down.

Your in New York. Go to the local store and pick up a cheap mouse. Or bum one from a friend for testing.

I'm working on it, I am disabled and can't get around without making certain resorvations. I will probably order it on Amazon.

I finally tried a USP mouse but I'm still having problems, but I have gotten into my side of the computer and am able to use it now. it's not perfect but I've got a system that is working so far enough for me to get things done. it is eight years old, i'm just going to get a new one, thanks for all your help.
