Every Time I Download and Click to Install it Brings up A Menu

Every Time I Download and Click to Install a software it Brings up A Menu to choose the program I want to open it with. Whenever you click a program to install like Adobe, etc the installer usually starts and then the software prompts you. Once I click it to install it just brings up a menu to choose and won't do anything else. I am stuck and have never seen this before. Anyone that can help?
