Hey all,

I plugged in my external for the first time on my new laptop, then windows said updating drivers, device ready to use, then I see it under my device/drivers menu, but I can't find it in My Computer and can't access it?

Any ideas?

Are you sure it's not just unlabeled as an I: or H: drive? A screen cap or two would be pretty helpful in this situation.

Are you talking about External HDD? if yes,
Im pretty sure that you will have to format the external harddisk on the first time using it. And formatting can be done if you run Computer Management>Disk Management And format the new drive.

Here are screens,

It shows under my device and drivers page fine, but is not visible otherwise.

I was using this HDD on a Mac prior to this, and it has important information that I need on my Windows.

Thanks,
Brady

Did you look in Start/Computer? Drives don't show in Libraries.

Did the Mac format the drive for a Mac file system?

You'll need a separate program to view Mac dives on a PC. Look at MacDrive.

Look in Disk management and assign it a letter. Right click computer, select manage and choose disk management in the left column. You will see it there but will have to initialize it and give it a drive letter. You may have to create a partition and format it first. If you have been using it on a Mac, Windows cannot read HFS+. Macs can read but not write to NTFS, as I understand it.
