Facebook unintentionally uploaded 1.5 million users email contacts

do you mean the apps on smart phone or the apps on general pc/laptop too ?

Call me old school, I don't have an smart phone & have no intention of buying one either, so it shouldn't bother to me if its apps on phone. I'm happy with my feature phone - I don't need fancy stuff, just a phone to call someone in emergency or someone to call when needed.

I'm with you. I have 3 desktops, and know XP and Win 7 like the back of my hand, but I have just a little flip-phone. I see people paying at stores with their smart-phones, and it's something I wouldn't do even with a gun to my head. It's like carrying your bank account around in your pocket. Just wait till those phones are hacked...

But do you have an email directory attached to that account? That's what they were hacking.

I do have an email (gmail) attached to the FB account but my password is totally different to my email address, also have 2 step authentication enabled or something like that on my gmail. TBH, don't even open FB related emails, just use the email as a security feature, in case I forget my password.

welcome to the club  But I'm not an expert in PC/Laptop either, just a novice :p I agree with the walking bank, my friends view me like a crazy person, when I say to them - I don't trust mobiles for banking or for that matter any cash related activity - even when they offer me to use their mobile for any quick transaction.

I wouldn't be surprised if FB knows how to crack 2-step authentication.

I read in this week's paper that the FTC is still debating what to fine them. $5 billion is just pocket money to them. They should just put FB out of business.
