Hi all, I was wondering if there is a way to actually send files across my home network rather than sharing them using homegroup. I was thinking of using ftp but there must be a way to do this within windows. thanks for any help or suggestions.

What do you mean by "send files"?
You can have a shared folder on another computer and (if you have write access) copy a file there from your machine, effectively "sending" your file to that location on the network. Homegroup or not, or even FTP as you say, this is quite possible and you don't need to wait for others to take files from you, you can send them too. Was that your question?

Yeah I guess that is effectively "sending" a file to my other computer even though it's not really the same. I was hoping I could do it without sharing folders though. My plan is to use my laptop as my main computer but only use the os as a host for a vm. I want to save or clone the vm and send it to my desktop computer which would then essentially become an external hard drive. Then if i get a virus i can just wipe the vm and send the last saved one from my desktop back to my laptop, settings and all.
