Running win7 ultimate - I am getting a message like this when I open Windows Explorer but I am not at the time trying to write files. What do I need to do to kill this message... I suspect they are "leftovers" from a cancelled write or suchlike but I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of the message.

Any help would be appreciated...

Okay, problem's back. I experimented a little, and here's what I found out.

The Temporary Burn Folder is empty, but the desktop.ini file appears as 'files waiting to be burned to disk' for that drive. It appears even when I'm playing a DVD in that drive, and there's no need for anything to be burned.

When I delete the desktop.ini file from the 'files waiting to be burned to disk' folder, the Temporary Burn folder disappears from the Burn folder.

When I reboot the computer, both the 'files waiting to be burned to disk' message appears for the DVD drive, and Temporary Burn Folder reappears (with nothing in it!).

Win7 Home Premium.

Do this, go to Folder Options > View > check "Hide protected operating system files" You will no longer have this issue.

Well, that makes it invisible, but will it possibly be burned to the next disk I burn?

Hidden files like desktop.ini are not burned to disk.

For my taste this disc burning feature of Windows 7 is too automated. These messages about files ready to be burned on disc pop up at strange moments and I am not entirely certain how does the OS decide that there are files to be burned. I decided upon a simpler solution - I disabled the whole feature altogether. I use Nero for burning, I can start it up whenever I need to burn a disc (which is about once a month or even less often) and then it's off and does not bother me. At the same time the burn quality is excellent (apart from the double-layer discs but that's a different issue).

I hear you, but I burn a lot of disks and I love being able to do it in Windows.
