Finding bloatware free software

I was curious where I would be able to find some software that doesn't ask you to change your homepage, installs toolbars, or some software will not install unless you pick a bloatware to install (eg. must change homepage, otherwise, software won't install)?

Not sure if this is just a change in the times. Back in the day (eg. 5-10 years ago), you were able to get software without it asking you to install a toolbar, change your homepage or having it install things without your permission.

Well now days you have to watch all the sites. They change contently. You not only have to un-check things you don't want you also have to go through the user agreements because sometimes they hide things in there.
Babylon will add things even if you select you don't want them.
It's a never ending battle.

True there are very few free softwares that don't want to install crapware along with it. If you have to complete some "offer" to get a download, I'd skip it altogether. Try downloading from the authors' own website, not Major Geeks, c|net, Soft Pedia, etc.

As already suggested, install from the developer's website if possible, but be aware that most installers come bundled with such bloatware to simply gain more money.

I'd dispute - I install lots of software usually (to find the best software in a trial-and-error sort of way), and I haven't seen a software that forces you to install crapware. However, it's usually in the defualt settings and require a keen eye to be able to spot when they ask for your permission to install them. It's usually a tiny Size 8 line of barely readable text that says "No, I do not agree" or sometimes you have to click "Advanced" or "Custom installation", to de-select them.

I've experienced a few programs which I have forced to install the bloatware provided in the installer, there was no option to unselect the programs or opt for a custom installation.
