Firefox 5.0 only Months after Firefox 4.0

As long as there is a reduction in the memory usage of FF5 compared to FF4 I don't mind how long it will take.

Memory usage is not a problem in the latest beta[/QUOTE

Dear yowanvista,
FF was/is known as a resource hog! If you have checked and confirmed for yourself that precious memory(RAM) is either same or less, then that's excellent news!

With 60 bug-fixes to do, heaven knows how long the stable version of FF 4.0 is released! The price of popularity!

The integration of ,for example "Steganos Password Manager" so smoothly, is so appealing in FF, that a wait and candle-light vigil is worth the while!;) What say?
regards,
DR.Sreedhav:)

Your RAM is meant to be used, whats the point of having a lot of memory when you don't want to use it. Unless you have a lot of addons it should not use that much of RAM. In my case FF4B10 uses 280MB with 30Tabs and 9 extensions :)

meh , why in the world would you use something that uses more ram vs another that thing uses less ram. that pretty much does the same thing :D

but yea ofcourse you need to use your RAM but not waste it :)

Seriously does 300Mb even matter to you, most modern PCs have large amounts of RAM and can handle more than that unless an old PC with 512-1024Mb of RAM is used ;)

Beta 10 uses less memory

There will be two more betas before Firefox 4 ships
Help us finish Firefox 4 — Alexander Limi

They are hoping to resolve most of these bugs before shipping the final.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=blocking2:beta,final sw:soft

Just downloaded and installed B10 on my three computers.

Two of the computers I rebooted and the amount of available physical memory without FF running is substantially more than it was before B10 installed without FF running. I would say say around 10% or more. I don't understand why this would be the case without FF running unless FF loads a process or two on boot even if FF remains closed.

On the third computer which is my main use computer so far it appears to be handling the memory better but it could just be a placebo affect of wanting it to be, so it appears to be.:D

I will obviously know more when I reboot my main use computer but I don't expect to being doing that for a few days at least unless I have to:D

P.S. All addsons that I am using except two work with B10 so I don't think it is the decrease in the number of runnning addons. One of them didn't immediately work when I updated to B9 but FF still had the memory problem before it became workable on B9. The other is a new addon for me and the memory problem was there before I installed the addon on B9 a couple of days ago.
