Hi:

Until someone arrives to read that crash log, it looks like an extension (Internet Download Manager) causing it?

What happens in Mozilla Safe Mode?
Mozilla Safe Mode

Also, consider uninstalling Flash Player with the removal tool >>here<<, then reinstalling the most current version from >>here<<

You might have to uninstall and reinstall Adobe Flash Player. I get the same thing from my FF now and then. Sometimes, I get into web sites that are "ahead" of my particular Adobe Flash player version.

In Safe Mode Firefox, given, for a brief time, seems to work perfectly.

Now what should I do?

Many thanks

Hi:

If Safe Mode resolved the issue, then the problem is likely somewhere in your profile, probably a wonky or bad extension.

I am no expert at reading the Mozilla crash logs, but it looks as if it could be this one:
Internet Download Manager - the fastest download accelerator

So, there are few ways to approach this, as explained here:
Mozilla Safe Mode
Standard Diagnostics
Firefox Crashes

It would be best to read those articles for the full details of the process to fix the issue, rather than my trying to recreate them here.

>>> NOTE: Most stability problems originate in the user's profile, not in the program itself. So reinstalling Firefox probably will not fix the problem.

>>>Before doing any major work, it would be advisable to backup the profile and (especially) bookmarks. There are 3rd-party utilities to do this, such as MozBackup.

Then, to be brief:
1. You could try to disable or uninstall the extension that is mentioned in the crash report you posted, to see if that resolves the issue. If that doesn't fix it....
2. You could work through the steps in those articles mentioned above, to disable hardware acceleration and to sequentially enable your extensions until the problem reoccurs -- that isolates and identifies the bad extension that is causing the crash. You would then disable or uninstall it. If that doesn't fix it....
3. You could backup and save at least your bookmarks and then "reset" Firefox. Or, if you have had the same profile for a long time, and it's gummed up with old extensions and other crap....
4. You could create a new, clean profile. Then you would import your backed up bookmarks and customize it with new installs of the extensions you want.

The approach depends on your comfort level working with Firefox, and on the amount of time you want to spend troubleshooting.

If you run into snags, there is an excellent user forum here, chock full of folks who really know their stuff: forums.mozillazine.org

Thanks,

Thank you very much. I will give this a try.

Is there a YouTube down-loader that is recommended? I hope this is not an inappropriate question. If it is, ignore.
