Solved Firefox window behaving strangely after reformating

I was using Firefox just fine until I had to reformat windows 7 and now when ever Firefox is not Fullscreen mode I get a clear windows explorer border surrounding my Firefox. (like it does to normal folders). It did not do this before.

Notice the clear boarder surrounding firefox as if firefox was a windows explorer program, the 'firefox' upper left hand control panel button is in the windows tab instead of it's own tab like when it's full screen and like it was before. I tested with other firefox themes and its the same thing.

It looks just fine fullscreen, thats how it looked at all times before even when half screen ect.
Please help.

That's the way the look of Firefox changed to when it reached version 4 and up. They gave it the Windows Aero look (clear panels). It's normal.

So you must have been running a pre 4 version ( 3.x) and then upgraded or upgraded without noticing.

What version of Firefox are you using now? What was the version number you were using before you formatted Windows, and had to install Firefox again?

I couldnt tell you what version it was I have absolutely no clue. Is there anyway to remove the border though?

Revert back to a pre-4 version? Not recommended though.

Use a Persona?

The border around Firefox is controlled by your computer's theme.

Pretty sure using stylish and finding the right custom user style can get rid of it without turning off any other Windows borders. Which I linked to.

fair enough, i thought stylish would only change the web pages/sites and not the explorer window that firefox opens in, but maybe not.

Even I'm just using a basic custom Persona, which doesn't let the clear glass border show.

The persona was an easy solution for me. The window still wastes a lot of space but at least now I can read the menu easily.
