hardware concerning: ethernet, specifically nforce4 network controller (drivers

situation: Assigning pc to static ip of router (wrt54g) ie; 192.168.1.xxx default gateway, and primary dns as 192.168.1.1

problem: upon bootup the network can not find the proper route and has to diagnose/troubleshoot to fix the problem, which was a nag every time and gadgets like weather and such would not be updated until this was resolved. If leaving network to dhcp the problem would not occur or nag. Yes dhcp set on router.

solution: simple really, going to nvidia's site and installing the latest nforce4 platform drivers fixed the problem (which i think is just a reinstall of the drivers as i think they are the same that are packaged with win7 7000. Have not checked this yet to confirm

chev, this isnt ABOUT the IPv6 error from occurring. Do you realize what IPv6 is, and WHY you are seeing these error? its pretty explainable... you arent on an IPv6 enabled lan, AND/or your ISP is not yet IPv6 capable... therefore what this means is that you have a new technology you cant use JUST YET... but as far as fixing the gateway problem with the said situation STATED above, this is what the problem was and this was the fix for the GATEWAY, not for the errors seen in event log... other than that depending on some apps that have had problems or quirks, you wont use the IPv6... You entered two threads about gateway errors... you are on about IPv6.... search on about IPv6... unless using the lan as IPv6, dunno why you would post about something NOT working when this particular thread was about getting something ELSE to work, not about "well this doesnt work" lol... IPv6 enabled or not is not related to the error of having the gateway problem when using a static IP from a router. Coincidentally i have IPv6 enabled on my adapter still, and do not get any connection problems anymore since the install of the nforce drivers from nvidia. Now if you ask me why THAT is, honestly i couldnt tell you, all i know is that it fixes the issue, kinda the same situation with reinstalling realtek audio drivers from site not using ones from install

ok phew, i'm done:geek:

yep always do it after a install of 7 or even vista for that matter...;)
the thing to remember is that this WILL break homegroups...
so if you are not using HG then this should be a fine fix...

wished it worked in 7, SUSE for that matter though
Yeah, the Homegroup thingy. Don't even use that, probably never will.

Easy enough to check it back on though.

I never actually had the exact problem you described, and everything updated on my system with no problems. The ipv6 error is because older rounters don't have this new tech installed into the firmware yet and yes I know all about it.

Seems to me that a firmware update of my Dlink gaming router would fix this ipv6 issue. I have had it disabled since day one but I thought you were describing a fix for it so that it wouldn't have to be disabled, so sorry for the misunderstanding. I imagine that there won't be an update for the firmware until after Windows 7 is officially released.

Does anyone have a link to the Nforce4 drivers? This thread suggests there are Windows 7 drivers. I'm unable to find them on Nvidia's site.

I recently installed a new Gigabyte GA-M61PME-S2P Nforce board, installed Windows 7. The NIC is being detected, however I can't get an IP off of it. So I either have a bad NIC or the drivers in the RC are fooked. I may very well install XP this evening to see if the drivers that came with the board work. If they do I know its a bad driver. If they don't its prob a bad NIC.

I have a set of nforce4 for my GA board. its the 15.23's. I also noticed that there are no nforce4 drivers there as well, few days ago. I didnt check, but you can probably find these under beta/archive/older drivers. I also went straight to GA and grabbed just the lan drivers and installed. No problems so far, knock wood. Install the vista drivers in comp mode. The only 7 driver for your board is the audio.

Even if you get those drivers installed, depending on, you may have the problem from 7100 of it not reporting the correct status of the connection for the adapter. If this is the case, you will need to install 7127, as in my case.
