Freeze and Random Shutdowns without warning or any kind of notice

Hey

My computer has been randomly shutting down for the past few days, and i have no idea what could be causing it. If anyone can help, that would be really appreciated!

I'm currently running windows 7 home premium x64.
it is OEM preinstalled.
the laptop is a T520 from lenovo and is approximately a month old.
the os is the same age as it came with the laptop, so about a month old.

If your system is already BSODing in a month of use, then I would initially suspect it to be a hardware malfunction due to a shipping or manufacturing defect.

As of now the crashdumps don't look particularly conclusive for anything. The syslog does report a good bunch of errors coming from the drive controller stating there's problems coming from the drive. While these can happen occasionally on a healthy system, the amount I see here is pretty heavy in comparison. Plus I also see a couple of NTFS errors and even the registry got corrupted at one time.

If you want my personal opinion, the system is fairly new, so you should utilize the warranty to the best of your ability. There's nothing here that points to software being an issue and there's plenty that makes one suspect hardware failure. It's of no worth trying to analyze and pinpoint exactly what failed in it when the end result will be sending it in for repair/replacement under warranty anyways.

If you are still determined to see what's causing this, you can first start by turning on Driver Verifier. In addition to not checking Low Resource Simulation, also do the same for Force Pending I/O Requests and IRP Logging. All three are no-nos. Restart the PC after you finish setting up DV. Send us any resulting crashdumps. Note if your PC starts BSODing at startup, you'll have to mash F8 to get to the boot menu and get to Safe Mode to turn DV back off. Again, send us the crashdumps.
