Front audio Panel doesn't work (ASUS P7P55D motherboard)

umm - how did we come up with the realtek?
Asus states it's a VIA Chip...

I'm just saying on my MB which uses realtek audio I had to disable front panel jack detection to get my mike and head phones to work. Maybe your board has a similar setting with the VIA chipset.

I'm talking in general since we're figuring with the realtek driver since quite a while in here...

Somebody assumed it was Realtek, and nobody (except you) double checked to see if that was correct.
Probably because they have an ASUS board with Realtek audio.
My Asus M2N68-AM SE2 is Realtek but my Asus M4N68T-M V2 is VIA.

Go to the downloads section on the ASUS web site for your specific model of motherboard and get it there. If that doesn't work then try downloading the correct driver from the VIA web site. I went to ASUS.com but it lists several different model of the P7P55D, so I'm not sure which one exactly is yours. There should be a driver on the CD that came with the motherboard.

It WAS the realtek driver instead of a VIA one - omg, this is the funniest solution of such a problem ever!
