Ben Fathi, VP of Development in Microsoft's Windows Core Operating System Division comments:
By bringing full virtualization to the desktop operating environment, Microsoft could accomplish two rather lofty goals. First, virtualization is ideal for keeping one user from ruining or dominating any particular system while giving them near-full access to that same system. This would be a boon for multi-user systems such as the PC that's shared by a family or a business. In fact, much like "profiles" can move around an Active Directory environment today, with full virtualization, a complete "system" could follow you around, provided a minimum standard of hardware be met. Even better, system maintenance and patching could be standardized in mixed-hardware environments.
