My problem is very simple. I have a number of games installed on my computer that ran up until a couple of months ago. From one day to the next, they just didn't anymore. If you try to open them, one just says you need to open as admin, then if you do, it just won't open at all, and the others just don't do anything. Compatibility mode or opening as administrator don't seem to do anything. The three games I have tried are Lord of the Rings Return of the King, Harry Potter (the first game) and Black & White. I've heard there was a security update at some point in September, which is probably why they don't work anymore, and the article said that there was a way around it, but didn't give a link to a different article with an explanation. Can anyone either link to such article or explain to me what to do? Much appreciated!

A windows security update has been blocking games with SecuROM and SafeDisc DRM's. This is most likely the culprit:

There's a fix on the support page. Or you can uninstall the update and that should fix the issue. I wouldn't advise uninstalling security updates though.
