Getting rid of redundancy

How can I remove Libraries and Homegroup among others? I've emptied Libraries so I don't want to see it. Homegroup is of no value to me. Get rid of it.

Why is everything repeated over and over? Funny how this is the Professional Version but it is anything but. Just costs more and allows more RAM. It should be called Windows 7 CostMore.

Anyway to get rid of the Access Denied folders? I don't want to see them sitting side by side with the folders of the same name. As this is MY COMPUTER why is the concept of access denied there at all?

Brink,
Worked great. Also removed the Favorites while I was at it. FYI, step 9 was unnecessary as the changes were propagated to that key. I made the change as stated for the Homegroup and Library but opted to assume it would do the same propagation for Favorites so I let it ride, rebooted and they be all gone!

That's great news Burt. You're most welcome.

Please double check to make sure that they are gone in your smaller "Open" type windows though. They may not always be removed unless step 9 was done as well. You can open Notepad, and click on File (menu bar) and Open to test.

Confirmed. They are gone. In my case, it appears that the step 9 was redundant. I'm curious if this step was added to a beta/rc or to a production release.

Any possibility of removing the restrictions of cookies and the other folders to get rid of the "access denied" message? Also, to remove the duplication as well.

It was created with the full retail version of Windows 7.

If you mean the hidden operating system folders, then other than setting them to be hidden again, no. These are required for Windows 7 to run properly. Some of them are junction points to the real folder instead and are not really folders. For example the duplicate user folders (ex: My Documents) with shortcut arrows on them.
