Solved Good AVI > MPEG4 converter?

Johnathan Lyman

Pure Awesome
Hey guys,

I have some H.264 videos as AVI files that I need converted to MPEG4 (.mp4) files (still H.264) in order to add them to my iTunes library. I also have some h.264 files inside an MPEG2 container (.mpg)

I haven't started managing my movies until recently with iTunes (I'm one of those people that can't use multiple apps to manage media). I have my DVDs of choice already in there via Handbrake. What it spit out works perfectly. I'm thinking maybe I should use Handbrake and set video quality to 100% of original (RF:0)? I don't care what their sizes are. Some I have 1920x1080 with IMAX scenes at 10mbps (Transformers 2, The Dark Knight) and some are less (1280x720, 4mbps).

Ideas?

You don't need to re-encode those AVI files, simply use mkvtoolnix to remux the streams into a new container ;)

I knew it was something simple. *sigh* it's been a long week. The logical seems to elude me. Too much WoW, I think.
