LILYLEE - Don't waste your time uninstalling and reinstalling McAfee. Did that a few times and ended up having the same problems.

Hopefully this is my final post on this subject - no problems at all since completely turning off NetGuard I don't even want to think of the amount of time I spent troubleshooting this and providing free Quality Assurance Testing for McAfee. Just hope they fix in subsequent releases... Cheers.

Hi...i have the same problem. i have tried whta A Guy suggest (.bat file) but now not working. always "resolving host" until now. but if i use proxy (anonymox add on) "resolving host" not show up.....so what you suggest A Guy....mozilla + chrome + android tablet all the the same problem "resolving host", at chrome mozilla with add on anonymox(proxy) no problem. Please help me. Regard

Welcome to Seven Forums lhery. I wish I had some magic for you. I can give you a basic explanation why it doesn't occur when using a proxy. Your issue is an error when trying to resolve dns. When you use a proxy, you are merely connecting to the proxy server, THEY are resolving the host. You have no error because you are not performing the action which causes the error.

I suspect using a VPN would have the same result. If you boot to safe mode with networking, and the error goes away, it is some sort of configuration issue with your windows. If the error exists, it is an issue with the way Chrome communicates with (your) ISPs. It is not only Chrome that has this issue, but there is certainly something about it that makes it more common.

Have you tried any of the Chromium based alternatives? Even the new Opera is Chromium based. I have so little time these days I'm afraid I don't have any to investigate further. And since I don't use any Chromium based browsers myself, I have no personal experience. Good luck. A Guy

I just want to add a little insight to this problem. I had Frontier for a few years with no problem, but when I brought home my new work laptop, this issue started happening. It does get resolved by unplugging and rebooting the router, but it's so irritating that I have to do that. It's now like clockwork... every 8 hours I have to reboot the router. The interesting thing is, on weekends when I don't use my laptop, I have no issue. They use Kaspersky, so it's not a McAfee issue. I can't figure it out. It's something that the laptop is changing with regard to my wireless connection.

I'm open to any other suggestions...

Hi, i read all the pages, but except that when i clean my host file i fuk*d up my adobe programs, nothing really hapens, so i keep digging, answer is very symple - internet properties -> connections -> lan settings - uncheck automatically detect settings. Now Chrome is working like a charm. Hope this is helpful. Happy new year!

I started having the "Resolving Host" problem a few months ago, so I tried running the flush.bat file, and it worked. Then the same problem came up one day later. I suspect the temporary success was due to the automatic reboot rather than the flush file itself.

Eventually I gave up on Chrome and switched to Firefox. It went well for a few weeks, until my pages stopped loading. I opened up Chrome, and saw the "Resolving Host" message. I tried Explorer, but it acted just like Firefox. I contacted my internet provider, but they said it was a computer problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions besides rebooting whenever my browsers fail?

Spoke too soon...

Unfortunately I spoke too soon...10 minutes later Resolving Host is back at work. Now I have unplugged both my router and modem, waited 1 minute and plugged them both back in....which also didn't work...now what?

If you have read through the entire thread, people were having issues with McAfee, Spybot S&D, etc. adding their own HOSTs file entries. This is the first suspect I believe. Honestly, I don't have any help for you. This is a very common issue, and beyond those who have had it fixed by the script in this thread, most have no joy.

I have not heard of anyone having this issue with Vivaldi, a Chromium based browser, as Chrome is. I have never heard of anyone having this issue with Vivaldi. It is my preferred browser, you might give it a look.
