Solved Graphic card problem or??

Running W7P and while doing some image and backup work, I noticed that everytime I do a restart of the system (whilst pushing the "Delete" button to get to bios) and before the first bios screen, the graphic card (ATI Radeon HD 4850) fan will go into screaming high speed. The system will no longer continue to boot, monitor goes to sleep. If I do not try to get to Bios, normal boot. Don't know where to begin on this one. Once up and running, everything is normal. This has been happening more frequently now. Yesterday I was running normal, installed a new program that required a restart, (menu option at the end of install) and just as boot up was finished, not yet to windows, screen goes dark, the graphics fan goes warp speed. This one was persistent, just would not restart, removed all perfs, HDD's, just the minimum. No luck. Unplugged and let sit for 30 minutes, same problem. Only after I physically removed the card and reinstalled, did it start normal. Tried restart again, same problem, removed card and reinstalled, started up. I hate to go and spend some $$ for a new card, and find out it is something else. Any suggestions appreciated.

Is there any way you can test the card out in another system? It's not definitive, but if it does the same thing in another system, it's probably the card. Also, have you kept the drivers up to date?

Tx for reply! I was hoping to substitute the card in my other Puter, but it turns out that one is an AGP type video card, this one is PCI 2.0, different pins etc. The drivers are up to date from the mfgr. Today it started up as normal from a cold boot, thats expected, but the problem comes in when a SW install wants to do a restart. Don't know what is different, but that is what triggers the graphics card fan to go warp speed. I think the next time that SW calls for a restart, I will shut down manually and then start manually and see if that changes the behavior. I un-plugged the 6 pin power cord from the card when it was acting up, fan ran normal, but the card put a message up on the screen saying that the power plug was unplugged, now if only it was smart enough to tell me why the fan is on steroids. I wonder if the board temp sensor is fuzzing out on me and telling the fan to go to max cool? Puzzling!
