''Fermi'' has most certainly lost its shine IMO..

they've lost so many potential customers due to the delay, even the ''die hard'' NV nuts are giving in & going ATI..

(my 5970 idles @ 36c & loads out @ 55c (about 62 on furmark), but that's brilliant.)

How are some people Ie Like you shunksmash getting 36c on idle and 55c on load?

I am 46C 22% fan speed and 58c 45% fan speed ,what the heck same with my cpu with people at 25C while mine are 34-36% at idle
*maybe 5850 vs Sapphire HD 5970 + GTX260 (physX) but still! *

Aren't these new NV chips more focused on oil research and medical such and such? You know really intense tasks that use the power of the graphics card for it? instead of using it to play video games.
ATI works for me, its quiet and i hear my hard drive more & case fans then the ATI card.

well..... firstly the 5970 has a backplate to cool the rear of the card, secondly.... my rig is practically ''wire free'' & i have dedicated fans for most components...

& my CPU has 1x 120x38mm & 1x 90x38mm fans attached to the block, there's no way heat can build in my rig (its not very quiet, but i dont run a quiet rig )

Presuming the the 470/480 bare PCB pictures are reference and true, you know you have a hot card on your hands when you start cutting holes in the pcb...

They started putting them holes in some of the GT200 series. Which makes sense as it's supposed to run around the same temp as a 285.

true, i haven't seen much good stuff coming from that site concerning nvidia, but as far as amd sponsored?

i checked the site...
did a bing search (is amd a sponsor of semi accurate?)...
