Hi,

I want to switch my HDD to AHCI mode. It used to be in AHCI, but ever since a CMOS reset it was set to Native IDE again.

Now it will give me a 0x0000007B BSOD on boot when I set it to AHCI in BIOS. I did regedit msahci and pciide "Start" to 0, and tried booting in safe mode too, but the blue screen hits all the same.

What else can I do? Is it possible the msahci driver stack is corrupted? Can I repair it?

Thanks.

If Windows was installed in one more and you then change it then it won't be happy you may have to do a repair or reinstall

Huh? Installed in one more what? Also, is the period key on your keyboard broken?

Thanks, but I know for a fact the SATA mode can be changed after having installed Windows.

It worked once, but now for some reason it doesn't anymore...

If you are saying that windows will not boot to safe mode using either AHCI or IDE mode in bios, that it fails in both, then you need to do a repair install.

But if you can get to safe mode somehow, its just a matter of telling your registry what mode you want and making sure bios matches it. This post tells you what to change, though it sounds from your post that you are familiar with this registry setting.
