I have a VGA LCD monitor. I bought this HDMI to VGA converter that also has stereo out and it works great.

I have audio output plugged into my stereo radio and it plays the sounds onto my speakers.

If I get a new HDMI input monitor, how do I get stereo audio output to feed into the radio?
Is that handled by the monitor? If the monitor was an HDTV does that pass through audio output from HDMI input using an audio stereo jack?

I see for sale anHDMI audio extractor that has HDMI in , HDMI out, stereo audio out that gets inserted into the HDMI cable.

If you're using a HDTV as a monitor, most reasonable quality HDTV's will have an audio output to drive a stereo. So in that sense, you have a way to get the audio to your receiver.

I have no idea how well those HDMI cable audio adapters work.
