Headphone volume too low !!

Hai guys,

My headphone volume is too low even at max volume settings.. using windows 7 64bit ultimate.

Headphone : HS 320 (Creative).. tried with other 1-2 headphones.. all of them .. volume is too low !!

Realtek sound driver : 6.6.1.6662

Intel : DH55TC


No problems with speaker volumes.. its loud and clear (5.1 creative t6160)

Any help would be much appreciated.. !!

Has the headphone port on the front panel ever worked correctly? If not, it may be a defective front panel assembly (and/or cable) on the case. Although it shouldn't make a difference, use the HD Audio connector from the front panel to the motherboard audio connection. Many cases also have an AC97 audio connector, which is the older standard. If you have this you can try it, to see if the HD audio connector/cable is the problem.

If the speakers have proper volume but the Headphones do not plugged into the GREEN speaker jack on the rear it says there is a problem with the headset. That headset has a volume control on it, have you tried that?

Try opening up the Volume Mixer when the headphones are plugged in and make sure all the volume levels are turned up. You can open the mixer by clicking on the 'Speaker' in the notification corner and clicking 'Mixer'

If that doesn't work... By any chance are you using skype or a voice communication program when your headset is plugged in?

Tried everything !! speakers has full volume. !! no problems with that

Interestingly, when i connect it through another speaker's jack (logitech) headphones has max volume !! loud & clear !!

but when i connect directly through computer,volume is low at max possible settings

Is their any driver updates iam missing here ??

realtek driver is upto date though!

Can you try a different pair of headphones/multiple devices and see if they have issues? Cause if it is only the one pair of headphones... That would mean they are the problem (or at least they have compatibility issues with your machine)

How does the speaker system's headphone jack work? It sounds like it is being amplified by the speaker system's amplifier and the reason its loud enough.

Maybe there is some problem with the PC's sound hardware that the speaker system is covering up since it has a built in power amplfier. Based on what you've reported, that the volume level is low at both the front panel headphone jack and the rear speaker jack with more than one headphone, it does appear that there could be a hardware problem with the sound, assuming the volume levels are set up in the PC.

One thing to check, go to the Sound Panel, Recording section and make sure the System Mixer is set as the recording device. This is a long shot but worth checking/trying.

Also, the Intel web site lists a different file version of the RealTek for this motherboard. Generally, the PC or Motherboard vendor's drivers are the preferred. Intel - 6.0.1.6602_PV.exe

My old PC used an Intel DP35DP motherboard and I always used the Intel supplied sound driver for it and didn't have any problems.

I've installed that version.. still low on volume..

something is not right !! i tried everything to boost some volume into headphone.. !! still not working

Check the "Enhancements" tab when you double-click on your headset in "Playback Devices". Try checking "Loudness Equalization", that's how I squeeze a few extra decibals from time to time when the source audio is bad.

I had the same problem

I had the same problem, I got a new laptop and noticed that while the speakers were loud, and headset didn't sound loud on just THIS laptop. IT was fine with the old one. I cross checked and played back a clip on both of then, one by one and listened. Volume was too low on the new one. I figured it was because of the Realtek soundcard which was somehow doing that to headset.

SO... I got a USB headset, and the volume is back to normal and actually sounds better. Since it's a USB device, the soundcard can't control it. I suggest you buy a GOOD quality USB headset.

Same problem hear with low sound when I plugg in my headphones in my laptop. I think it was a update that went wrong, cause my comp just updated and when I played a media file thats when i noticed the sound was really low before i updated my computer! HELP!!!
