Hi!

I have an HP Pavillion HPE (h8-1380t) running Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) and I have a headset plugged to the top of the computer. FYI, on the top, the computer there are 4 ports: headset out, headset in (mic), and 2 USB ports. Here's what is happening:

a – I can listen to YouTube videos.

b – When I use Skype, my voice is herd (i.e., the mic works) but I do not hear anything.

I tested the speakers using Tools > Options > Audio Settings > Speakers (which is set to Communications Headphones, IDT High Def..., Auto Volume) and I hear the sound.

What's wrong?

Thank you!

Maybe your headset is bad. Try it on another computer. And try a different headset on this computer.

I looked up the documentation on your computer at the HP website. I couldn't find anything that identified the ports on the top of your computer. It's not that I don't believe you; I just wanted to get a good lookover at the computer. Basically, HP has lousy documentation on their website, unless you are planning on disassembling your computer; in that case, they have good documentation.

Dear MrJimPhelps:

Thank you for your reply.

A post in the MicroSoft Community - Skype suggested to uninstall and, then, re-install Skype, which I did. But, the problem is still there.

Since, (a) I can hear YouTube videos and (b) when I use Skype, my voice is herd (i.e., the mic works) but I do not hear anything, the headset ports are working.

Hi!

Problem solved.

In the Control Panel / Playback, both the Speakers / Headphones and the Communications Headphones have to be checked as Default Devices.
