Help shell32.dll*missing

I tried to install a custom theme and now my screen went all black on the password menu and when. Try to anything I get shell32.dll*missing. System restore waney created and I think I am screwed no?

try the windows repair.. it will not delete any of your programs or file but just replace that missing file..

Boot with your Win 7 DVD and repair your system.

I have the same issue, and can only get as far as logging in, but get an error saying that I cannot run explorer.exe because of the missing shell32.dll (I screwed it up in pretty much the same way this guy did). I'm also on a Toshiba computer, else I would've stuck the DVD in and re-booted Windows, and that would be that. But I cannot figure out how to do it, so right now I'm kinda screwed. Help would be much appreciated.

See if this doesn't help you. You need to do what you need before windows boots, as you can't get into windows:

This did work for me, although I figure it out before you pointed it out to me, and I was trying to work in safemode. I lost a few preferences, but whatever. Thanks for your answer.

You should never replace your system files if you don't know what your doing, and still if you do, be careful, check the file versions and see if they match and take a System restore image before doing it
