Hey eveyone,
I downloaded the beta version to my computer two days ago and did an upgrade to install. A pop-up would come up when i started the computer and it said that comodo could not be started right. So i figured it must be because it thinks it should still be running on vista. I uninstalled it and downloaded the Internet Security Package onto my desktop. I double click on it. I choose next to start the installer, click agree, and choose where i want it to download to. When i click next, it starts but then stops suddenly and the green little bars start to go back down. It says that it is rolling back and within literally 3 seconds it says roll back complete. I exited, ran Ccleaner and Wise registry 3(thinking the computer might have some left over info that it didnt grab)
After i did that i restarted the install process and it did the same exact thing. Is it because it is not compatable?

Also the sonner i can get help the better because i have absolutly no protection(i have no faith in windows firewall)

Thanks everyone,
Ben

I use the Windows Firewall together with Avast Free and have not had any problems.

It seems that you would be better of doing a restore system to before Comodo was installed.

Comodo Security Suite Installation (Ben)

Ben,

First, turn off User Account Control.
Second, ensure Windows Firewall is Off.
Third, ensure Windows Defender is off.
Fourth, right click the installer executable and click ,"run as administrator".

If the above doesn't work, download Revo Uninstaller and use advanced mode to uninstall any remnants of the security suite.

Most of the time this happens because there are drivers that Windows 7 sees as incompatible. This happens with Norton 360 v3.

Another option is to download and install Altiris SVS and install the security suite as a software layer (you'll need to install the administrator during the SVS installation). This will install the security suite as a software layer and can be easily deactivated and deleted.

Another option is to right click the executable, choose options and choose ,"Run in Windows XP compatible mode" and see if that works.

If you have any issues, I'll help you out. Email me at pookeydolittle at gmail

Second Reply to Ben.....

Ben,

When the installation completed, did it do a clean install (with all your files in a directory named windows.old) or did it leave your apps in place. My recommendation is to do a clean install. It will place your files in the windows.old directory where you can retrieve your documents, pictures, music, etc. This install method is the best way to ensure your apps will install correctly.

Hi all,

Could anyone point me to a post that describes step by step how to run the install for CIS in Vista Compatibility mode?

I've always used CIS and I want to continue to do so on my wife's new laptop. However, I am still pretty green with Windows 7.

Thanks!

avmad

If you have noticed it is a thread from the January 2009.

So it is old thread,
Now you don't need compatible mode install, as new version of Comodo Internet Security supports both versions (32-bit and 64-bit) of Windows 7.

COMODO website said:
System Requirements:

Windows XP (SP2) or Vista 32 bit or Windows 7.0 32 bit
64 MB RAM / 70 MB hard disk space
Windows XP (SP2) or Vista 64 bit or Windows 7.0 64 bit
64 MB RAM / 105 MB hard disk space

So download new version from official site and feel free to install it :)

Hope, I was helpful.
