[HELP] Windows 7 ISSUE

Hey Guys,

To get started I have 8 hard drives, 4 with OS's and 4 for storage. Well, Windows XP is on HD 1 and 7 was on HD 2. So I decided to re-install Windows 7 on HD 2.

Now when I boot up it just automatically boots into Windows 7, and when I went into boot options it doesn't even show XP in the drop down. I know I didn't upgrade because all my programs aren't in 7, nor are my files.

How can I boot to XP?

In Windows 7, use EasyBCD to add the XP drive to the boot menu.

You might also have to edit the boot.ini file if it reboots into a black screen when choosing XP, after using EasyBCD.

Download EasyBCD 1.7.2 - NeoSmart Technologies

If I did understood properly, your xp is on drive 1, seven on drive 2? if so, when booting use the F12 key to choose which device to boot from, choose hdd, then choose the proper hdd on which is your xp.

sounds like windows 7 installed boot information on HD1 where windows xp is installed, I looked around and didn't find a solution, but if you want to try doing this again, here is what I suggest you do:

1. re-install windows XP on HD1
2. unplug HD1
3. re-install windows 7 on HD2, since HD1 is unpluged windows 7 will put boot information on HD2
4. replug HD1 back in

in BIOS you can now select which HD to boot from, if you want to boot windows XP, you can select HD1, if you want to boot windows 7 then you can select HD2. this congfiguration basically islolates the two OSs from each other, each will have it's own boot files on it's own disk.

source of this information

Hope this suggestion helps, sorry I don't know a way to fix this other than re-installing, because it seems windows 7 replaced the windows xp boot files on HD1, even though it's installed on HD2. as I said if HD1 is unpluged then windows 7 will be forced to put it's boot files on HD2 durring the install, which will keep windows xp's boot files safe on HD1.
