hopefully this is the right place to post this, since its more of a search than an actual problem:

Does anyone know of any harddrive docks/adapters/anything that can connect both ide and sata harddrives and is hotswappable? hopefully it has 2 docks/connectors to allow for both of my harddrives to run at the same time. im looking for something like this, but slightly cheaper and can connect ide as well. i probably havent looked hard enough, but i dont think newegg, frozencpu or tigerdirect has anything like what im describing. if it helps, i'll be connecting the harddrives to a laptop running windows 7

Unlikely you'll be able to find a dock for an IDE drive. If you're committed to using the IDE you should be able to find an IDE to SATA adapter -- but you'll also need a power source for the drive. For what this will cost it may be simply better to scrap the IDE drive and buy another SATA and use a two-drive dock like the one in the link you provided. Note: I don't know the specifics of that dock, but it may be preferable to find a dual docking station with two eSATA ports should you want to access each drive separately.

I use the following DAC's:
Benchmark DAC1 USB [via Coax] to splitter with Teac A-H01 [via optical]

Hugo2 [connected via USB]
The adapters are still out there. Newegg shows a few:

Newegg.com - ide usb

They aren't docks, the HDs will be lying out on the desk, but an adapter allows you to connect to PATA and SATA drives through a USB port.

I vaguely recall IDE docks a year or two ago, but all of the well-packaged ones now seem to be SATA.

I dunno about hot swapping.
