How can I enhance laptop speed(inclu start) & remove unwanted programs

My laptop is slow on starting and also its overall speed is little slow, in spite of having sufficient RAM, CPU and hard speed for normal home purpose use.

Kindly also help me identify which programs are running on my laptop or installed on it, which are not required.
Also, please let me know if there is any good free antivirus software, which does not have much impact on performance. Is it good to have some cleaners like CCleaner or registry cleaners etc.? If yes, which one should I go for?

Following screenshots are of the programs and services on my system. See attachments

Services.msc sorted on startup type (Automatic, Disabled etc.) and startup tab of msconfig.

2. services_msc_sorted_startuptype_2.jpg
3. services_msc_sorted_startuptype_3.jpg
4. msconfig-startup.jpg

Thanks,
Vineet

First, uninstall ALL cleaners on your system. They are bad. You don't need them, Windows 7 doesn't need them, and they can cause damage to the Registry etc. Once you have done that, go ahead and download and install Malwarebytes and run a FULL SCAN with it: Malwarebytes | Free Anti-Malware & Internet Security Software
Be sure to uncheck the free trial for the PRO version.

After that, go ahead and run disk cleanup (both normally and as administrator): http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/818-disk-cleanup-open-use.html

After that, run a defragmentation using the built in Windows Defrag program: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/11733-disk-defragmenter-open-use.html

I've never seen such a mess. Maybe you absolutely have to have all of it. I dunno.

For comparison to my system:

You have over 30 items checked in startup. I have 8. Windows will run with none checked.

You have about 200 services listed; about 95 running when you took the pictures. I have 165 listed; 59 running.

Two things I'd do as a beginning.

Uncheck everything in startup other than anti-virus. Continue using your laptop as you normally would. See if there are any negative consequences to that.

Find out how many of those 95 running services are not Microsoft. You do that by checking "hide all Microsoft services" in the services tab of msconfig. Only 12 of my 59 running services are not Microsoft.

And you have a relatively puny CPU. The Athlon X4 645 scores 3595 on the Passmark benchmark. This compares to 6214 for a 2010 era Intel i5-2500.

1. disable ALL startup programs
2. uninstall ALL programs that you do not absolutely need - use REVO
3. replace the HDD with a SSD - that would give you a real speed increase

The Athlon X4 645 is my CPU. They have a laptop and the Athlon X4 645 is a desktop chip. Also, I have an SSD in my system and Windows performs well. Yes, there is lag running games on max settings, but it still performs well and would NOT have the performance issues listed above. Benchmarks are not everything and I have used this CPU for 3 years, so I know how it performs.

:ditto:

Then make sure your anti virus is still running.
