Alright, some backstory: This is a used laptop. I insisted on making the salesman install a fresh version of Win7 x64, after he warned me I'd have to reinstall the secondary (M230) GPU's drivers manually when I got home.

So I did just that, and the Catalyst Control Center / Switchable Graphics Settings appeared whenever I right clicked the desktop; indicating my success in installing the drivers.

So just one problem remains, I use the Global Switchable Graphics Settings to set my AMD to run everything, but when I launch up a game, the Intel takes over (which isn't really too bad as it's still a decent GPU, but I'd take 60FPS over 45 any day), and I also can't seem to bring up the Intel's settings anymore.

I DID try disabling the Intel in Device Manager, but that just caused my laptop to use the motherboard's GPU (I think it's called that, it was just shitty).

Now I need to know what I can do to force the system into using my AMD rather than my Intel.

Hello Drakcyprus now my Asus G750 ROG has a similar set up Intel 4600 graphics and a NVidia GTX860M GPU. Now I did ask some time ago why I couldn't use the GTX as the default GPU and the explanation that I got was that the machine is so engineered / designed whatever to use he Intel graphics until the going gets really heavy and then the NVidia will cut in and take over the graphical output.

Now it sounds to me a rather ridiculous situation personally as the NVidia graphics would outstrip the Intel but the fact remains I cannot set the better of the two graphics chips to be the default one and I think you might be stuck with a similar situation.

Now I did find one does have some control albeit rather limited by the Intel graphics controller https://downloadcenter.intel.com/search?keyword=Intel®+HD+Graphics+4600 as I said you can manipulate the 4600 graphics to a point.

Edit
I did write this up a while ago I don't know if it will be off any use or info to you
HINTS ON ADJUSTING INTEL GRAPHICS ON LAPTOPS
If you are using or can only use the Intel graphics in your laptop machine (some laptops now have dual graphics chips ie Intel for general use and NVidia for heavy use – gaming etc) and want to use two monitors – for example a larger one with a laptop, and the “secondary” monitor ie the larger one the screen needs scaling to get the screen within the monitor’s screen edges – read on.
NB if you are changing the aspect for the larger “secondary’ monitor you must first do this.
Start > Control Panel > “Display” > “Multiple Displays” > click “Show desktop only on 2” (this will cut out the primary machine screen while you are adjusting the larger monitor and not change the machine’s own screen aspect ration
IF it gives you an option for a different resolution – for example the larger monitor is 1920x1080 then change that however if the laptop for example only supports 1600x900 then it might not be capable of doing that.

This works really well with recently manufactured Intel graphic chips and those machines that have the update from this link https://downloadcenter.intel.com/ this link gives one the best available graphics from Intel at this time.
Now you have to pick out the driver after checking this link out and for example my link for my Asus ROG gaming laptop was https://downloadcenter.intel.com/se...Core™+Processors+with+Intel®+HD+Graphics+4600
STEP 1.
On the plain desktop right click and it will give you a window with some options.
STEP 2.
Click on “Graphics Properties” - that will open the “Intel graphics control panel” as per pic (takes few seconds).
STEP 3.
Click on “Display” – and select ‘Customise Aspect Ratio” - there will be two sliders one for horizontal and one for vertical.
Click hold on each one and slide them in their respective directions until you see the edge of the screen come in from the edge of the monitor bezel and them just slide them back to where they are sitting exactly where you want them.
Then - click “Apply” and then it will ask you if you want to keep this configuration – click “OK” – it is done!!

No need for hating the Intel HD 4600 because it's more powerful than the R5 M230.
