I go a step farther, I lock down the firewall & then close the program with Alt + F4, just in case. I've seen some pop ups that attempted to communicate despite using F4. Since I started using NoScript as well as the above mentioned controls for Java, I haven't seen any in quite a while (knock on wood). The Java is kept off unless it's absolutely needed.
