Solved How do we stop windows explorer from auto arranging my name?
In windows XP I could right click and choose to UNcheck the option in each folder for Auto arrange icons.
Then every time a new file was created in that folder it would appear at the end after all other files.
How can we get win7 to do the same? ( I often work within many folders and lots of files which help keep things organized this way [ especially for custom generated temporary files ] )

I am sorry do want them unsorted, or sorted by something else?
If you click on the pull down it gives you different sort options. If you want unsorted there is a way to do that as well

I would prefer unsorted ( i use either tiles or small icons on these folders due to the number of files and sub folders in them ) on most of my development folders please
Also, I don't see where to get the sort drop down

"I don't see where to get the sort drop down"
On the menu bar (click Alt if you can't see it):
View > Sort by
It's not clear if or how you could completely disable sorting.

Excellent recommendation! I followed the procedure shortly after I got my Win 7 desktop and I've been able to place files in folders exactly where I want ever since in. Kudos to Brink for sharing this fix with us!
