how many passes are there in the olde version of memtes86

Memtest86 is recommended to test the Ram defects.
Memtest86 version 4.3.7 version is advised for older mbr pcs
when I just open it, it auto starts the test and i do not know anything what it does
what is a pass, how do I know that I can skip the test
Would it auto stops the test to give me the ram errors if any, or i have to just force it to close.
Is there a easy of stopping the memory bad sectors access by general command , not to waste time on checking the Ram with memtests
While the test was running, i do not know anything what it does.
Windows memtest is a just blue ribbon moving with nothing to see.
If suppose, power interrupts, can i continue the test from the last point
I do not find any settings menu and as it starts automatically, the change in config may not work with the running test start

Hi, there has been no reply to my thread.
Probably all would have switched to win 10 .
I am having older machine with mbr system.
I have done the memtest86 on default settings run for 2passes for both memory Ram stick.
There is no error shown on both the passes for the two rams I have.
But still I experience a kind of repeated attempts to get to my desktop.I have changed the motherboard battery, checked the ram and found no errors. System check sfc scan does not produce any error result.
