How to disable wireless network

Netstumbler is an older program I have used befoe. I don't think it has been updated in several years. Are you using any form of encryption on your network ? Is the neighbors encrypted? Make sure you are using a unique network workgroup name for your network.

Hi Kocos,
This is the default behaviour of wireless networks to broadcast themselves (SSID broadcasting) to make it easier to connect too - your network is doing the same thing, and your neighbour can probably see your network too. I don't think there is a way to block it per se, since that requires your neighbour to turn off broadcasting, and this will probably make it more difficult for him to connect to his own network.
The best thing you can do for yourself, is to ensure your network is protected with a strong WPA pass phrase (password), so no-one "steals" your bandwidth.

You computer is just seeing the neighbors network. Just make your network secure & in the router setup make you signal invisable (don't broadcast SSID name)

Once you have saved that file, please open it and follow from step from page 4 of the PDF, titled
Setting WPA Security (Only for Windows 2000 and Windows XP)
Log into your router, and see if the pages shown in the manual resemble those of your router - I recommend do not make any changes, unless you feel comfortable with doing that. If you decide to make the changes : note you MUST connect to the router with an ethernet cable to make the changes.
The manual is quite well written, so I think you should be able to follow all the steps from page 4 right to the end easily. If you aren't sure, post here and someone will help you.
