how to format c: having an earlier copy of win seven

hmm i have a prob, i had windows 7 beta version installed on my C: drive earlier .... later i installed the full version ... on drive f: ....as the windows on C: got corrupted....but now i want to format the drive C: ....i was able to delete the files like windows program files, etc by taking the ownership from trustedInstaller and blah blah ...but when i try to take the ownership of the drive C...it is unsuccessful ....i tried formatting using cmd etc etc all...it is of no use... my DVD drive is defective too so i cant boot from a cd like in xp setup and delete the files + on trying to boot from USB..it seems my PC gets hung... so what shall i do now? any help would be appriciated ... it is using almost 5 GB of my space ( i guess the space is what OS installs itself into) ....this 5 gb can be put into much useful processes ...so i really need to get rid of that garbage

Did you install WIn7 on F from the C partition, because otherwise Win7 should see itself as C when booted into either Win7. You should always boot to clean install.

The way a partition is deleted is in Disk Mgmt or using a Partition Manager, not yanking its files out.

But first we need to see a Disk Mgmt screenshot to see if the boot files are likely on C, as they must be recovered into F before it will be able to boot on its own. Use SNipping Tool in Start Menu, maximize window before snipping.

i would have but as said earlier, i have a bad DVD drive + then i didnt know how to make a bootable USB...i have read the tute now most probably it'll help me (hoping so for the least) and i wasnt being able to format C: from inside the OS while i was installing, and i have installed new copy from drive E: its Xp, yea i know keeping 3 windows at a time ..i am a freak
