I am trying to stop/remove processes that aren’t really needed to try to make my computer more stable. In the Task Manager, I see a laclient and this site, All about laclient.exe (Logi Analytics Client), tells me what it is. I see no reason to have this process running, I was able to kill the process, but I have no idea what to do to make it not appear again the next time I reboot my machine. Any suggestions?

Hi

not a true removal tool but it does the job, and can search for remnants etc
FRST @ Bleepingcomputers

have a look at the Virus/Malware removal sub forum at thier site, then review a few posts so you can see what it does
i run it every now and again just to see if anything new has popped-up
( i can give you some Basic options on how to run it)

note
DO NOT select all the run options, defaults are pretty good then explore further

you may have to Whitelist it --- it is not malicious

I don't think FRST will do anything in this regard. Trying to stop a process launching. In windows 10 and 11 you can block stuff like this easier as there is built in tools to do so but in 7 there is less methods to stop stuff.

Ways to stop the process launching.

  • - The method described above
  • - Potentially autoruns(Context dependent)
  • - Something like system explorer will definitely block it by making a reg entry.
  • - making reg entries manually.

There is other ways but those are the main ones. Sometimes you can just delete the EXE if its not critical but also just renaming the extension is effectively returning the same outcome and if you ever need to reinstate the EXE then you can just change it back.
